Welcome to Hursthead Junior School
I hope that you find the information on this website both interesting and useful. It contains day-to-day matters of administration and an outline of the school’s educational philosophy and practice.
We believe that children fulfil their potential most successfully when they feel valued and they are aware of their responsibilities and our expectations. High standards of work, behaviour and dress are therefore required at all times and are an important part of our caring and inclusive approach.
Our curriculum and teaching styles are constantly reviewed so that we provide a balanced and relevant education that will prepare our children for their secondary education and life in the twenty-first century. Children need the space and opportunity to develop their enquiring minds, challenge themselves and reach their potential. We believe we offer this at Hursthead Junior School. We give the children a sense of enjoyment in learning. We want the acquisition of knowledge, skills and understanding to be a source of pleasure and satisfaction, which will stay with them as they become lifelong learners.
The partnership between home and school has a great bearing on a child’s progress. For this reason, we invite you to involve yourself in the education process that your child experiences at school. We are committed to involving you at an early stage by keeping you well informed about their planned curriculum and achievements. Dates and useful information can be found in termly newsletters and on the VLE.
The staff and I are always keen to discuss with you any aspects of your child’s development and we are always pleased to answer parents’ questions.
The best introduction to our school is a visit. You are always welcome.
***** Flu Update*****
As you may be aware there have been cases of Flu verified at a Stockport school. While there are no cases in our school at this time we want to ensure that our children remain healthy and take every precaution against the spread of the virus. We have increased the cleaning levels in school and have given pupils information on good respiratory hygiene regimes. The following link gives further information on Flu
