Equality Act

The Equality Act defines a disabled person as ‘someone who has a physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long term negative effect on his or her ability to carry out normal daily activities.’

At Hursthead Junior School we promote disability equality amongst all stakeholders. It is vital to us that disabled pupils, parents and teachers are prevented from being treated less favourably than others.  We seek to consult those who are disabled through various means to gather information and views on how we can support their needs. Admission packs contain fact-finding documentation that inform our preparations, planning and resource requirements. Parents are always welcome to discuss sensitive issues with the Mrs Kendrick, Head Teacher or Ms Taylor, SENDCO. It is important for us to be fully informed on any matters that may affect pupils’ learning.

A wonderful team who have listened carefully to what my child needs to feel included and valued.
